Clarey's Haunted House
My tutorials require a working knowledge of Paint Shop Pro! *Animation Shop *Font of Choice, I used Edwardian Script *Mask of choice *"Spooky Wooky" PTU scrap kit by Clarey available for purchase at her store HERE. Visit Clarey's blog HERE. Open a 700 X 700 White Canvas. Open the Haunted House in the kit. Copy and Paste it onto your canvas. Use your selection tool or your lasso tool, whichever you are more comfortable with, and select the area of the door. Hit your delete key to clear out the ghost and anything else inside the door. You should have no yellow part in the window on your haunted house and you should have the yellow part of the window in a layer of it's own. Do the same thing for the other 2 windows on the haunted house. Make sure all 3 of the yellow window layers are BELOW the haunted house layer. Open the ghost from the kit. Copy and paste it onto your canvas. Resize it by 50% and then resize it by 50% again. Move the ghost layer below the haunted house layer and position it inside of the big main window. Add a drop shadow of 0,0,88,8. Duplicate it and move it to the other window on the left. Duplicate that ghost and then move it up to the window at the top right. Use your eraser tool to erase any parts of the ghost that are sticking out from behind the house. Grab your magic wand and click inside the door of the house. Selections-modify-expand by 2. Add a new raster layer. Flood fill it with grey. Selections-Select None. Move the grey layer below the house layer. Open the skeleton from the kit. Copy and paste it onto your canvas. Resize it by 20%. Place it inside the door and move it below the house layer. Add same drop shadow. Open the tree from the kit. Copy and paste it onto your canvas. Resize it by 70%. Image-Mirror. Move it to the left side of the house. Add same drop shadow. Open the moon from the kit. Copy and paste it onto your canvas. Resize it by 70%. Move it to the top right hand part of your tag. Add same drop shadow. Open one of the pumpkins from the kit. Copy and paste it onto your canvas. Resize it by 30%. Move it next to the door of the house. Add same drop shadow. Open the fence from the kit. Copy and paste it onto your canvas. Position it in front of your house. Add same drop shadow. Open the cat from the kit. Copy and paste it onto your canvas. Resize it by 70%. Position it on top of the fence. Add same drop shadow. Open the web from the kit. Copy and paste it onto your canvas. Resize it by 35%. Position it on the tree. Add same drop shadow. Open the spider from the kit. Copy and paste it onto your canvas. Resize it by 30%. Position it on the web. Add same drop shadow. Add a new raster layer. Drag it to the bottom above your background layer. Flood fill with black. Apply mask. Merge group. Crop as needed. Add text of choice. Add copyright information. If you only use the elements from the kit then you need to add ©Clarey's Designs. You can leave it like this if you want, or you can animate it. The animation is tedious so please bare with me :) Go back to PSP. Close of all of your layers in your tag except the white background layer, the mask layer, the grey square layer, the skeleton layer, and the yellow window layers. Edit-Copy Merged. Go to AS, paste as new animation. Minimize it for now. Edit-Copy Merged. Go to AS, paste as new animation. Go to Effects-Insert Image Transition. A menu will pop up. Use default settings. Maximize the frame we pasted first. Duplicate it to where there are 21 frames (or however many frames you have in your ghost animation). Go back to your ghost animation, click on the first frame, go to Edit-Select All, then Edit-Copy. Go back to the other animation and click on the first frame. Go to Edit-Select All, then right click and select Paste into current frame. Your ghosts will appear with the mouse, move them into position on top of the yellow windows and then click. Now click run animation to check and see how it looks. Your ghost should be fading. The effect we are going for is the ghosts appear in the windows and fade away, like shown in my tag. Go back to PSP. Now close off the ghost layers. Open up the house, fence, pumpkin, cat, tree, bat, text, and copyright layers. Edit-Copy Merged. Go back to AS. Paste as new animation. Duplicate it until you have 21 frames (or however many frames your main animation has). Go to the first frame, Edit-Select All, Edit-Copy. Go back to your main animation, click on the first frame, Edit-Select All, right click and paste into selected frame, position to where the ghosts and yellow windows fit inside the windows of the house the way they should then click. Now, to animate the web and spider is a bit more tedious. Go back to PSP. Only open the web and spider layers. Basically you just move the spider a little bit then copy and paste it as a frame into AS. Keep moving it until it goes all the way up the web and then back down the web. Copy and paste frames from the beginning and add them to the end if you need to, because you need to make it have 21 frames. Then you will click on the first frame, Edit-Select All, Edit-Copy. Go to your main animation, click on the first frame, Edit-Select All, right click and paste into selected frame, then move the spider and web onto the tree where it was in the original tag we built in PSP. Play your animation. I changed the frame properties to 30 but it's up to you. Save as gif and you are done! Whew! *Wipes sweat from brow* lol....
